รัฐธรรมนูญแห่งราชอาณาจักรไทยฉบับปัจจุบันผ่านการออกเสียงประชามติเห็นชอบด้วยของประชาชน 16.8 ล้านเสียง เมื่อวันที่ 7 เดือน สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2560 แต่ฝ่ายที่เรียกร้องให้มีการแก้ไขประสงค์ตัดอำนาจและหน้าที่ของสมาชิกวุฒิสภา
More than sixteen million voters approved the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E.2560 ( 2017) on August 7, 2017. But, right now a group of the Members of Parliament are making an effort to launch an amendment to the Constitution. In their attempt the MPs aim to get rid of a provisional clause of the Constitution so that any amendment to the Constitution may be made more easily. They demand that the procedure for the election of the members of the Upper House and it’s power to give the approval to the choice of a Prime Minister must be brought into attention for further scrutiny. An attempt is from a political party and it calls this attempt a “measure to turn off the light” of the Upper House. The reason for this is to get rid of the power of the upper house. The proposal demands that the Upper House must not have any roles in the election of the Prime Minister.
